It should come as no surprise that SilverLining Design come about as much out of necessity as desire. No matter how long David had dreamed about starting the company, it always seemed easier to draw a paycheck than to roll the dice and make something happen. Well, one thing leads to another, and a company is born. It started out as a side business while maintaining a real job, and then become a full-fledged operation in 2000.

David graduated from Virginia Tech and began his career in the newspaper industry. He experienced his first downsizing after less than 2 years in the real world and saw the worlds of ad agencies and NASCAR. He still bleeds orange and maroon and is glad that Virginia Tech followed him into the heart of the ACC.

Rob came to love web development work through an unusual path: his job as a jeweler. Rob worked his way through college by working for a jewelry store. Back then the web was just becoming integral to business and the owners turned to Rob, a computer science major, for help. He got them online, doubled their yearly sales, and found his passion of helping businesses through web development.

Rob is also a Virginia Tech graduate and can be found at Lane Stadium during every Virginia Tech home game.
